What is Biryani?
Biryani is a rice dish made with layers of rice, spices and traditionally meat(Chicken, Mutton, Fish, Shrimp) and veggies. Biryani is a mixed rice dish originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is made with Indian spices, rice, and meat, and sometimes, in addition, eggs and/or vegetables such as potatoes in certain regional varieties. Biryani is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent, as well as among its diaspora.
—>Mutton Biryani is a delicious rice dish where tender goat or lamb meat pieces are marinated with lots of fried onions, whole spices, fresh herbs and yoghurt. This marinated meat sits on the bottom of the pot topped with half-cooked rice which is drizzled with saffron-infused water and more fried onions and fresh mint leaves. Sealed and slow-cooked in an oven or on stove-top to a delicious aromatic finger-licking biryani that you may serve with some kachumber, salad, and if you are like us, more pappadoms!
Cucumber Raita:
Cucumber Raita is a variation of raita that can be used as a dip with biryani. It is made by mixing together freshly chopped cucumber, green chillies, and dahi, and optionally finely chopped tomato and onion.
